"Nike of Samothrace"

The sculpture that immediately grabbed my attention when looking through the text was the "Nike of Samothrace". This sparked my interest because I am interested greek mythology and I find the backstories associated with artworks give a whole new perspective to the art piece. She was known for leading Zeus's chariot and she also would fly around battlefields rewarding the victors with glory. You can really see that Nike is the goddess of strength, speed, and victory through the artists use of sculpting her in a confident, graceful and elegant stance.
