This sculpture is called "Couple." It was made by the Dogon people from Mali and it is made out of wood. I love the meaning behind this sculpture as it shows the equality between a man and a woman. In the Dogon Society, they believed in shared and symmetrical responsibilities. This sculpture shows the distinctive roles of a man and woman in a marriage, and at the same time, it shows that they are one and equal in their partnership.
