The bronze statue of David by the famous artist Donatello is one of the greatest sculptural works of the early Renaissance period. I chose this statue of David because it represents a triumphal moment from the biblical storyline of his battle with the Philistine, Goliath's. According to the story, after David struck Goliath with the stone from his slingshot, he cut off his head with Goliath's sword. the sculpture shows David standing with one foot on top of Goliath's head, which portrays his victory.
