Gian Lorenzo Bernini. David. Marble. 1623-24
I chose Bernini’s sculpture of David as my favorite because
his depiction is different than the other three. He depicts David in motion as
opposed to before or after battle. What I especially like about the sculpture
is the facial expression depicted. Bernini is also very detailed in his
depiction of David. Unlike the other sculptures of David, the
viewer has to view the sculpture from a different perspective in order to
understand it then from the front. After doing more research, I was surprised
that Bernini created the sculpture at just twenty-four years old and that it
only took him seven months to complete.
