The Rape of Proserpina
this is a large baroque marble sculpture, he finished it at age 23. This is in Italy in galleria borghese. I chose this sculpture because it had such a powerful message. He captured the rawness and emotion in this piece of work. Its about the greek gods rape. The detail is outstanding, how she is pushing his head and you can see the indents of his fingers grabbing her. It has movement, emotion, life likeness all included in it.
