Nike of Samothrace
Nicholas Klein
While going through the book to see what sculpture caught my eye, i noticed The Nike of Samothrace also known as Winged Victory. It was created in 190 bc and is currently in the Louve in Paris. This was the first time i have ever seen thus piece of work. What caught my eye is how it looks looks like the statue is blowing in the wind and how it doesn't have a head or arms. There are many details in the wings and dress. The dress actually looks like the cloth turned to stone. I did some research because i was curious why there is no head or arms and the reason why is because it was found that way in 1863. They found the right hand in 1950.
