Alice in Central Park
I chose my favorite sculpture as being the Alice in Wonderland sculpture located in Central Park, NY. It was placed in 1959 when George Delacorte gave it as a "gift to the children of New York City". He came of the idea for it as a tribute to his late wife because she used to read the story of Alice in Wonderland to their children. Jose de Creeft was the sculptor that created this kid-friendly sculpture that has hiding spots and varied textures and promotes children to climb onto it and enjoy the art. I chose this as my favorite because it is interactive with its audience which is what Delacorte wanted and Creeft was able to deliver.
